Who we are

Honest Social ("we", "us") runs this website, honestsocial.co.uk, and is the controller of the personal data collected through it. You can reach us about anything in this policy at james@honestsocial.co.uk.

What we collect and why

When you contact us or book a demo

Our contact, demo and interest forms ask for your name, work email, company and, where relevant, your social handle and a message. We use this only to reply to you, arrange a call and talk about working together. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: answering an enquiry you chose to send. We don't add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to.

When you browse the site

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people find us. It records things like pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded with cookies and no analytics identifiers are stored on your device.

When you email us

We keep the emails you send us, and our replies, so we have a record of the conversation.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal data. We use a small number of providers who process it on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it secure:

  • Netlify: hosts this website and receives form submissions.
  • Google: Google Analytics (only with your consent), Google Workspace for email, and Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces on this site.

Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the UK–US Data Bridge or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and form submissions: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you become a client.
  • Client records: for as long as we work together, then six years for accounting and legal purposes.
  • Google Analytics data: 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Cookies

We only set non-essential cookies if you say yes. You can change your mind at any time using the link, which is also in the footer of every page.

Our dashboards

This policy covers the website. When a client uses our paid or organic dashboards, we process their account and performance data on their behalf under a separate client agreement and data processing terms, which say exactly what we access and how it's protected.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
  • delete your data, or restrict how we use it
  • stop using your data where we rely on legitimate interests
  • send your data to you or another organisation in a portable format
  • withdraw consent, for example to analytics cookies, at any time

Email james@honestsocial.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
